CHALLENGE
JCPenney identified 100 stores needing interior and exterior remodels based on capital, profitability and store conditions. With the store needs in mind, JCPenney developed a refresh model as a systemic investment plan for its existing stores. To implement this model, JCPenney needed a strategic partner to address customer-facing areas to improve the sales floor flexibility and overall shopping experience.
SOLUTION
Sevan collaborated closely with JCPenney to optimize cost savings and oversee individual store projects, managing up to 8 projects per 90-day wave. This involved comprehensive program management services including plan reviews, bidding, contract execution, budgeting and full GC project oversight. Sevan also handled specialized tasks like Beauty Salon and Optical Center remodels, ProCoating ceilings and ACM abatement.
RESULTS
In 2022-2023, 40 store refreshes were successfully completed. Sevan’s cost-conscious approach and timely delivery elevated JCPenney’s customer experience and store profits. The seamless integration of the teams enabled JCPenney to minimize internal expenses and trust Sevan to manage all locations within budget effectively. Sevan will continue this success with 75 stores projected annually for 2024-2025.
