CHALLENGE
Sprouts identified 150 locations that required the removal of existing salad bars to install new prep meal cases. However, Sprouts encountered significant challenges during project management. These challenges included incompatible refrigeration lines in all locations, inaccuracies in floor plans regarding the placement of floor sinks, limitations on relocating all floor sinks and difficulties fitting the new cases through the doors.
SOLUTION
Sevan coordinated with Sprouts to abandon existing underground lines and run new overhead ones. Sevan relocated the floor sink and used a cutback kick plate to expose 50% of the floor sink for necessary access and inspection. Sevan also installed a hinge on the kickplate where possible. In cases where the floor sink couldn’t be moved, Sevan pumped the condensate line overhead. To fit the new cases, Sevan temporarily removed the automatic doors and then reinstalled them before store openings.
RESULTS
Sevan successfully completed permit work for 36 locations. Sevan streamlined the removal and installation of new prep meal cases, reducing project timelines to 1 to 3 nights depending on the scope.
